Merry Christmas!

I’ve been celebrating Christmas as a tradition since I was a child. I remember Christmas as a time of giving gifts, receiving gifts, delicious food, decorations, caroling, and family gatherings. That was my Christmas until I became a Christian. Christmas time since then has held a new meaning for me. Christmas is symbolic for me. It represents Jesus’ birthday. It’s not the date that is important, but the symbolism. It’s a day that many Christians recognize & celebrate Christ’s birth. Most Christians also share in the traditions of giving and receiving gifts. This represents God’s gift of salvation through Jesus the Son. We also partake in the other traditions practiced this time of the year. This is a choice. Some Christians don’t celebrate any symbolic day and some people don’t celebrate Christmas at all. I can respect that. In America we have many different beliefs and traditions depending on who we are or what we believe. For those of you that do not celebrate Christmas as a Christian or non-Christian - Happy Holidays & Happy New Year. For those that do - from my family to yours - Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. - Jon (aka Reverend Holliday) #MerryChristmas #JoytotheWorld #symbolism #tradition #holidays
