It's time for another chapter of My Gaming Journey. But before I begin I'd like to welcome WeebGR to the small but growing list of people who are subscribed to me and commenting, liking, reminding, and reffering my work. Thank you so smuch for coming aboard I genuinely appreciate it.
This time the journal entry focuses in on the P.O.V. of Garrett the Half-Elf Priest of Illmatar, The Crying God in the Forgotten Realms. Journal Entry #10 starts now!
By Illmatar's tears, the holy texts have always said that I should bear all suffering and pain with a measure of grace but what happened today was a bit much even by my standards! We finished off that boulder puzzle but the Black Raven Barbarians still had their eyes set on taking out Dar'Kandra. Even now as we sit here in the camp I've heard the Drow muttering things under her breath in that tongue of hers. I cannot tell what she's saying but based on the tone something tells me I don't want to know. But I digress.
Wyverns are nasty things. Especially with that stinger in their tail. More than one man has met their end at the receiving end of that thing. Upon defeating them and resting up we moved on to the nearby cave where there's a way down to the cavern Nym mentioned. However reaching the cave proved to be a hard enough task. We not only had to fight two white wyrms we also had to deal with a White Dragon!

It wasn't as big or as powerful as that White Dragon Matriarch Icasaracht but that thing sure packed a wallop. Brannon and I had to withdraw from the fight to get healed before rushing back in. Once in the cave we ran into more white wyrms and another White Dragon. Again I and this time Dar'Kandra were forced to withdraw from the fight.
Beaten and battered we still managed to find in the hoard of the dragons a magical helmet that Terrax identified as having cone of cold abilities. Brannon took the helmet for himself believing that the helmet of a great hunter beasts should be worn by a warrior of the just. And since Helm is known for being just and fair I agreed.
Mali it seems is rather irked at Nym, considering the fact he did give away our location to the leaders of the enemy I can understand. When we had fully recovered from the fight with the rather large beasts we used the hemp rope we bought int the wandering village to drop down into the cavern. On a hunch Brannon put Mali and Terrax in the middle of the group while I went up front with Brannon while Brianna and Dar'Kandra brought up the rear.

That proved a wise stratagem. No sooner had we taken only a dozen steps into the cavern when the chitinous creatures Nym mentioned dropped from the cavern ceiling upon us. And looking at them I recognized them immediately as did Dar'Kandra. When I was studying to be a priest of Illmatar in Athkatla, I read several tomes by some wise scholars on some of the various dangerous beasts in Faerun. One in particular that got my attention was the Hook Horrors. And it was a good thing it did because that was exactly what dropped on us. It was a hard fight splitting our efforts like that but by some miracle of Helm and Illmatar we survived it.

Dar'Kandra has been hearing voices and they sound like Duergar. I've heard of those types of dwarves, not exactly the most friendly but we may need to ask for their help if we hope to get out of these caverns. We found a nearby cavern with some Ice trolls which we simple enough to take out. But then we had to face off against some Ochre Jellies, it took all of our fire items and many of Terrax's fire spells to put an end to those things. Add to that a Shambler which nearly took Brannon down as well as myself and Gods it's been a very painful day. What concerns me more is this many Hook Horrors in one place indicates there might be a Matriarch nearby. and if that's the case we may be in trouble as the Matriarch and the Guardians have a substance in their attacks which is very poisonous to humanoid creatures. I fear our tribulations are nowhere near over in fact I fear they may only get worse.

All I can say I hope Helm and Illmatar can see us through this long trek to Kuldahar and whatever may be going on there. may illmatar take our burdens and pain onto himself and keep us safe.
Well I hope you enjoyed that. Ever since Aragmar suggested I put these Journal Entries into blog form I have to say I've been having a ball. The Minds.com blogging is a lot easier than Wordpress, I'm definitely goiing to be enjoying this for a good long while.
