A Red Hook resident, Molinaro has spent his entire adult in public office. He was first elected to the Tivoli Village Board in 1994 when he was 18 years old. A year later, at 19, he was elected mayor, becoming at the time the youngest mayor in the U.S. After 12 years as mayor, Molinaro was elected to the Dutchess County Legislature, where he served until he was elected to the state Assembly in 2007. In 2011, he was elected Dutchess County executive . 1975: Born in Yonkers. 1980: Molinaro family moves to Beacon . 1989: Molinaro family moves to Tivolli. 1994: First elected to public office at age 18, as a member of the Village of Tivoli Board of Trustees. 1995: Elected mayor of Tivoli. Molinaro was re-elected mayor five times. 1999: Elected to the Dutchess County Legislature. Molinaro was re-elected three times and served as chairman of the Budget, Finance & Personnel Committee. 2001: Graduates from Dutchess Community College. 2006: Elected to the state Assembly, representing the 103rd District. Molinaro served as assistant minority leader pro tem. 2011: Elected Dutchess County’s seventh county executive and, at age 36, the youngest ever. 2013: Appointed by the state Senate to the GreenwayHeritage Conservancy for the Hudson River Valley. 2014: Awarded the Pace University Land Use Law Center’s Groundbreaker’s Award. Molinaro received the honor as a graduate of the organization’s Land Use Leadership Alliance Training Program. 2015: While Dutchess County Executive, Molinaro was elected as second vice president of the New York State Association of Counties. 2015: Launches ThinkDIFFERENTLY initiative to change the way individuals, businesses, organizations and communities relate to those with special needs. 2018: Announces his run for governor.
