I am an older gentleman now in retirement. I have paid my dues to the thieves in suits and hope that I can survive my remaining years while retaining whatever human(e)ity I have left. Years ago, I met Tessa Fowler in Columbia, South Carolina. She was a waitress at Hooters while I was in town on a business trip. She served my table, and when I mentioned I was going to the big Gamecocks vs. Clemson game that night, she playfully told me to pick her up after work.
I didnβt.
Iβve regretted it every day since.
At nineteen, she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen β cute, fiery, and unforgettable. I told her that one day, if I ever created a character for a novel, it would be based on her. She smiled, walked awayβ¦ and I never saw her again.
