The Democratic Socialists of America is the largest socialist organization in the United States, and the principal US affiliate of the Socialist International. DSA members envision a better world for all and are leading progressive movements to fix the broken systems being imposed on us by the corrupted few. We are building on the legacies of champions for democracy and socialism that came before, in America, around the world, and throughout history. They shared the wisdom that a better world is indeed possible and demonstrated the courage to fight for it, no matter the odds. Now, as we face new challenges that were scarcely imagined in past centuries, we must do our parts to carry the banner forward at this most critical time in human history. Far too much is at stake. We are socialists because we share a vision of a humane international social order based on both democratic principles and market mechanisms to achieve an equitable economy, meaningful work, a healthy environment, sustainable growth, gender and racial equity, and peaceful prosperity. We are socialists because we reject an international economic order of private profiteering, alienated labor, race and gender discrimination, environmental destruction, and brutality and violence in defense of the status quo.
