So I get why Thomas More and John Fisher are venerated as saints and martyrs in the Catholic church. They had their heads cut off for resisting the Reformation in England. But why on earth are they venerated as martyrs in the Church of England, though? I mean, that's a martyrdom that could have been easily prevented by, you know, just not chopping off their heads in the first place.
