Study of a 430-million-year-old fossil has led to the exciting discovery of a new species. A 3-D reconstruction of the fossil has provided experts valuable information on the evolution of modern day sea cucumbers. And the scientists dubbed it ‘Cthulhu’, as it has a striking resemblance to the monsters from the fictional universe created by author H.P. Lovecraft.
