It must be easy for the non-hunter, on the outside looking in. "Bow hunters are better than gun hunters." "Hunting is a waste of time." Or "Hunting is cruel." I had an amazing buck within shooting range and let one fly. I can make all the excuses in the world but for now, all I can chalk it up to is more to lack of practice but also inexperience. The arrow only went in 4 inches (I have no idea how or why) and unfortunately didn't kill the animal. I did see him up and chasing does the following morning, so I'm hopeful he will make it through the season. Hunting is difficult in many regards, but I accept the challenge and consequences participating in the circle of life. I love spending the time in the treestand. I can't explain why I enjoy freezing my ass off just to see a few deer walk by and mainly watch squirrels run around chasing each other, but I do. I have learned my lesson and will be getting the gun DIALED before the rifle season opens.
