Steve from 1234-Go Records in Oakland found this along with a bunch of other ephemera inside the jacket of a test pressing of the MTX album Our Bodies Our Selves. Subsequently Alex Botkin (the guy who organized the Lookouting last year, and an indefatigable Lookout Records collector) bought it and asked me for some detail about the stuff inside. First thing, that test pressing will have been one of the original four I'm pretty sure, as I really doubt that album was re-pressed even once, let alone enough times to wear out the initial metal parts to require additional tests. (It's probably the rarest MTX LP, as well, fewest copies in existence.) So, good score for Alex. Those promo combs were the brainchild of our old pal Paige O'Donoghue when she worked at Lookout, and date to around '95-'96. Whoever bought the test pressing had used the jacket to store memorabilia stretching from '94 through '97, including a printed out copy of the '94 ish MTX "Psychic Friends Network Newsletter" which refers to the forthcoming Bomb Bassetts e.p. under the (original) name Cuban Rebel Girl. Fun stuff. #music #nostalgia #vinyl #minds
