Other than being able to see the Alps again, and expanding my Dex, and meeting or seeing some important people, this trip to Salzburg was a waste of time, especially for the fourteen words prerogative. First off, I thought Viktor Orban wouldn't show, because Sebastian Kurz, who hosted this shindig, pantsed Orban in the EU last week. I wouldn't have showed up if I was him. But, he did anyway, which was fine by me. While here, he took the occasion to show up Clunker Juncker's Potekmin EU common border security plan for the fraudulent smokescreen that it is. Which means that Orban and I are of like mind, we came to the same conclusion independently. Problem was, this shindig, which was billed to be about migration issues, and because of that, a few Antifa types showed up to protest at Salzburg Hauptbahnhof, actually wasn't about migration. They spent most of the time jabberwacking on about Brexit. My working theory on Brexit was formed a few minutes after the announcement that the Brexit vote won, and has stayed the same since then: TPTB are stalling, delaying, pseudo-tripping all over themselves, engaging in pseudo-incompetence, in the hopes that at some point, people quit paying attention, at which point they won't get mad when Brexit never actually does happen, and that's the endgame, for Brexit actually not to happen, while there being zero political blowback for it not happening. Anyway, tomorrow, I'm back on the choo choo and back in the other direction, to Munich, where I will be for the entire run of Oktoberfest, (dirty job, I know, but someone has to do it), then after that will stay there until the October 14 election day, where I hope to be doing even more partying. Turns out that genuine October weather is going to accompany the start of Oktoberfest.
