The concept we have of our own mind and thoughts is often a model that we have built from observations of other people and how we extrapolate from their behavior and speech what we imagine is going on inside their mind. Unfortunately, this model is only as accurate as we are capable of modeling other people's thoughts, which is difficult (impossible) even for the most intuitive and intelligent among us. Often we apply our own bias to others and then when we use the model of their thoughts to understand our own thoughts, we have squared the errors of our own conceptual premise. A blind spot in our own mind will not be given any more light by any attempt at modeling. This is the ultimate importance of reading and close relationships, as the concepts and assumptions in our own mind cannot survive a long form and complex unpacking of anothers interiority.
