Stop Breaking the Law! Time after time, the assertion is made, "It's quite simple, don't break the law and you won't have a problem". This is assuming that in each encounter between LEOs and a suspect, almost without fail, the LEOs (Law Enforcement Officers) are held blameless of any wrongdoing. Unfortunately, in our present day and age of expansive law enforcement overreach, NOT breaking the law isn't as cut and dried as it once was. Every day, in the United States of America, it has been estimated that 70% of the population commits a JAILABLE offense. It's getting to the point that everyone must be an amateur attorney in order to understand and protect one's own rights. Since the citizen/perpetrator/suspect is Constitutionally protected there should be little cause for concern. Trust in the Justice System and all will be well, correct? Wrong! The citizen/perpetrator/suspect will be arrested, dragged to the local "detention facility" and locked in a cage. With alarming regularity, these arrests include disrespectful, contemptuous, brutal, and often sadistic conduct on the part of the arresting officer(s). At this point, whether or not the citizen/perpetrator/suspect is "guilty" of whatever offense the LEO decides to charge them with...their life as they knew it, is now thoroughly screwed. For the "average" taxpaying citizen of the USA....one bust, even if misguided, mistaken or illegal ... could financially ruin many families. One is no longer considered "Innocent until proven Guilty". The Legal System assumes you're guilty, because they know, either way, overall... the System comes out on the plus end on their financial balance sheet. It no longer matters if YOU, the hard working, honest, tax paying citizen is financially wiped out attempting to exonerate yourself of the alleged charges...screw you as well as your bank balance.
