10 SECURITY AND PRIVACY FOCUSED APPS FOR ANDROID:  Please note the following is a list of apps geared towards Android users, although some are available for Apple as well. All apps listed are free to download and use with a few offering optional paid upgrades, and could be found on either Google PlayStore or the appropriate websites which will be mentioned. They are also all ad free. Mobile security and privacy are more important than ever, and having the right apps installed could spell the difference between maintaining some degree of online anonymity or having your personal data compromised. Upon considerable trial and error and experimenting with numerous apps in the respective category, I can confidently give a seal of approval for every app I mention here. One app I trust but will not be mentioned in the list is the FireFox Browser, as one of my prior posts covered key add-ons for FireFox, so please read that post if you use FireFox and are looking to customize it. In no specific order here is the list-  1)AdClear  Developer- SEVEN Networks Inc.  Optional paid upgrades- No  Battery drain- Nominal  Monthly data consumption- Moderate Available on IOS- Yes  As the name suggests, AdClear blocks most forms of mobile advertising from in-app ads to browser ads and potentially malicious websites. It works by means of a VPN, which enables it to function on non-rooted devices. Recent updates to the app have seen the additions of a data firewall and hibernation manager. The data firewall when active allows a user to block all internet access/traffic to both user and preinstalled apps, and each app has its own toggle switch. The hibernation manager functions like the popular app Greenify, and will put selected apps into hibernation mode when the phone screen is turned off, and this process helps prolong battery life.
