A Roman cooker, called an authepsa (αύθέψης) was sold at auction in 2023. It was an elaborate bronze construction ornamented with cast birds. There are lots of photos in the auction advertisement.
Despite their other technology, the Romans never invented the chimney! Because of this they cooked with small pieces of charcoal, or used wood treated to give off less smoke, called by the Greek word acapna (ακαπνα).
