Factoid of the day. Pretty much every single house in Italy has windows with storm blinds. In the countryside, colonial shutters (persiane) are still pretty common; in cities roller blinds (tapparelle) are the preferred ones. When it starts getting hot, judicious use of blinds to keep sunlight out lets you keep an acceptable temperature inside the house.
