Super proud of my progress on this so far. Also fucking happy that I figured a good chunk of it out myself! Like how after reading how to do an array modifier for a few different uses I realised you can stack them, so you could array modifier once to give a different sized duplicate and then a second time to make the chain giving alternating-sized links along the curve. Also some maths to try and scale the chain so the links fit as snug as possible too
