YOU WATCHED ME CRY
You watched me cry
Like a one-week old baby
Suffering from acute pile
And walked out, taking my smile
Out the door with you
Into the darkness without due
Nor mist that shows kindness:
You walked into wide darkness.
My eyes are sore and heavy
As when bereaved of Son, Mary
Demanded for answers.
I hold only faded flowers
Of shared memories of broken
Dreams, sad when spoken
In the silence of my heart
Now bleeding at each start
Of breath like an old engine
Running out of oil n’ attention.
