A Call to Arms By Son of Sonnet and Carbon Mike The ebb and flow of Seasons, or of Tides, Great Waters as they swell and then subside, Are like the lives of Nations in their time Which now ascend to greatness, now decline. Ecclesiastes tells, and History proves How in this dance the deeds of Men should move; For every time, to gain the purpose right. Unyielding will is needed now to fight. There is no refuge in the war for Life, No honor but in unrelenting Strife. The hand of Death will seize the one who waits Alike as he who grapples with his Fate. The enemy's dominion over Thought, Rebuked by all that noble lives have wrought, Will vanish, as their fragile Dreams have done; as Night must flee the rising of the Sun. The slogans and the shouts of Partisans Are random words but written on the Sand, While banners flash, and bells ring out for War And golden Armies march along the Shore. And when the Sea has eaten of our bones, As time to sand returns the hardest stone, Take up, my sons, the golden arms we bore; Fulfill, my sons, the sacred oath we swore. Those few shall never falter nor retreat Who serve a Captain death could not defeat. In Faith, and Works, and Love, together bound, The colors of our Regiment are found.
