Writing community, how do you avoid assassinating your own characters? That is, when writing sequels, later chapters, or other follow-on stories, how do you avoid altering established characters in dissatisfying ways for these selections that destroy the basis for the audience's interest in that character generated in earlier portrayals? Have you recently experienced an egregious example of a creator assassinating a beloved character in their storytelling and thus undermining your interest in their creative product?
