Getting creative. I have about 3 tomato plants that were a bit taller than the others, so even after putting them in bigger pots, they were way above the soil line. Tomatoes are able to create root systems all along their stems, so when potting them in larger pots, you should bury them up to the top leaves. Since the pots were too short, I took a couple of the ones the came crushed and cut off the bottoms to form an extension.
