Pop-science journalism often doesn't understand real science. Far too often, I've seen "science" articles reporting on recent developments, but grossly overstating the significance of a particular finding or misrepresenting them. All of this to create a catchy headline and an article that seems legitmate on the surface but fails scrutiny when comparing to the actual published research they mention (which they usually dont properly cite).
