State Sword for Edward, Prince of Wales! (1473-1483) This is a ceremonial sword with a hilt made of not gold or brass but latten, a copper zinc alloy. It is decorated with enamel painted engravings upon the grip and pommel but also has tiny details upon the quillons. Punches of two running wolves indicate its parts may have been constructed in various locations in Germany before being finalized in England. It now resides at the British Museum. It is 71.4” long with a 16.2” hilt and 16” guard. #swords #weapons #history #medieval #museum
