Leftists inevitably scorn and hate those who have achieved upward mobility (unless the person pays lip service to leftism) because they are considerably less likely to feel that they need someone else to speak for or fight for them. Leftism is the brand and representative of the weak- and because human nature seeks power, leftists thus inevitably seek to weaken people, so that they can speak for them and, in the end stage of leftism, to eat for them.
