About this Article
This week the topic of love has been on my mind. So today I want to write to you all some of those thoughts, and scriptures that came with them. I hope it helps many of you that read this message.
The Greatest Commandment
One of the scribes came and heard them arguing, and recognizing that He had answered them well, asked Him, “What commandment is the foremost of all?” Jesus answered, “The foremost is, ‘HEAR, O ISRAEL! THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD; AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.’ The second is this, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” The scribe said to Him, “Right, Teacher; You have truly stated that HE IS ONE, AND THERE IS NO ONE ELSE BESIDES HIM; AND TO LOVE HIM WITH ALL THE HEART AND WITH ALL THE UNDERSTANDING AND WITH ALL THE STRENGTH, AND TO LOVE ONE’S NEIGHBOR AS HIMSELF, is much more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” When Jesus saw that he had answered intelligently, He said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” After that, no one would venture to ask Him any more questions. Mark 12:28-34
God’s Proclamation to Moses
Then the LORD passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.” Exodus 34:6-7
A New Commandment
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. John 13:34-35
What is Love
Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Message
When we read through the Bible we see the foundation that it built upon is love. From the Garden of Eden and the fall of mankind, to God making a new Heaven and new Earth in The Revelation of Jesus Christ we see love is the message. Therefore we as believers in Christ must walk in love with one another.
There is so much division, anger, strife, name calling, condemnation and judgement being passed around amongst Christians today. This is not something new however. This is why you see so many different denominations in Christianity. We must come away from this division, and let the Holy Spirit led us. For that is why He is here with us. For He is our Comforter and Councilor.
There is only one gospel and one Christ, not several, and love must abide in our hearts for one another. Not hate, strife, or division.
The World at Large
When we take a look at the world around us we see so much hate from government leaders warring with other countries and their own citizens, those on social media arguing with one another and posting hateful things, rioters in the streets burning cities to the ground, race wars, and so much more. We as believers need to pray for these sorts of people to come to salvation and repent. We must not join in with them on any level. That includes commenting on their hate-filled posts on social media platforms.
We must remember these people are not the enemy, but the spirits that drive them in their hate are.
An Unbelieving Spouse
There are believers out there that have unbelieving spouses, and I want to address this situation. I know that when a husband and wife don’t see eye to eye on their beliefs this can cause serious problems. Due to the scientific community always looking to make Christianity (and really any faith based organization for that matter) look outdated and foolish it becomes increasingly more difficult to pull a spouse away from these teachings. Even when the believing spouse has evidence of the Bible being the truth many unbelieving spouses will simply refuse to look at the evidence.
This can leave the believing spouse at a loss as to what to do. There are two scripture passages that I want to bring into your mind at this time. First is what Jesus said in Matthew 5:31-32 about divorce. He said that it is only permitted due to adultery. He did not say anything about divorce due to disbelief in Him. Second is what Paul said in Ephesians 5:25-30. Paul states we should love our wives as Christ loves us. Meaning we should exercise the characteristics of love towards them, and not pass judgement and condemnation on them.
The unbelieving spouse however will ask things like “will I go to hell if I don’t believe in Christ?” By you saying “yes” they will see this as you being full of judgement and condemnation, but don’t let them convince you of this. They asked you for the truth, and sometimes the truth can sound harsh to those who don’t follow The Truth (Jesus). Always exercise patience and kindness when speaking to your spouse. Remember you didn’t write the rules of salvation, God did.
Stay put in your (husband and wife) marriage and be faithful and loving towards them. Let the Holy Spirit work on them. It may take months, or even many years, or not at all, but trust in the Lord always, and do not fall out of love with Him or your spouse.
In Conclusion
Let us show love towards others, not hate. For God is love, and as His children we to must walk in His love. Trust in the LORD always even in these troubled times. For things will get much worse before Christ returns to rule the world. Be full of love for one another, and be very strong and very courageous in the times ahead. Walk in the love of God,

Gideon had only 300 men to defeat an army of 135000 troops, composed of Midianites, Amalekites, and peoples of the east. Could Gideon and his men see the approaching army, if so, how far were they positioned from each other? We go to the location and find the answers to these questions! https://youtu.be/YWm0MhzEfvw
