A Weedy Seadragon Carrying Eggs:
Unlike seahorses, Phyllopteryx taeniolatus do not have a pouch for rearing the young. Instead, male seadragons carry the eggs fixed to the underside of the tail. This superbly camouflaged fish typically inhabits kelp-covered rocky reefs at depths from approximately 3 m to 50 m. It is usually found in areas ranging from shallow estuaries to deep offshore reefs within Australian temperate marine waters.
