Some facts about Simon Cyrene

Septimius Serverus was the first African Roman emperor. He was born and brought up in Libya and proclaimed an emperor by his soldiers. He died on 4th February, 211. Note that the ancient name for Libya was Cyrene (spelling varies). Does that ring a bell? 😉Yeah, Simon the Cyrene who helped Jesus to carry his cross on the way to Calvary.
