Jakrapob is one of the most powerful people in Vajiralongkorn's inner circle and is usually always with the king, but he travelled back to Bangkok specifically to coordinate the operation from Thailand, the sources say. They say the operation was to kill Wanchalearm, not just to kidnap him. It is likely he was murdered soon after he was seized, and his body has been buried in a remote spot in Cambodia or dumped in a river or lake. Diplomatic sources say that in recent months, Thai embassies around the world were asked to try to find the home addresses of dissidents living abroad. During the operation, Vajiralongkorn was at the Hotel Waldegg in the Swiss town of Engelberg. He flew there on June 2, a few hours ahead of Queen Suthida's birthday. Jakrapob's brother Jirabhop is chief of the Crime Suppression Division, and several other relatives also have senior positions in the Royal Thai Police.
