“Keep The Internet Free From Government Control” Atari Teenage Riot put out this statement in 2010. The t-shirt was promoted by many in the hacking community and beyond. We think that the problems of a certain technology (in this case ‘the internet’) occur because of the way people use it. So that is what we criticize and not the technology itself. (Technology must always be mastered by humans, not the other way round.) Again and again we have seen how people scream for help and look towards politicians and the government for help. This rarely solves the problems because government can’t fix these problems, only we as people/users can. A good example is ‘hate speech’ and ‘fake news’. If someone is not capable to think critically and always responds with emotional outbursts to ‘things online’, no politician, no army, no cop in the world will be able to change that. Don’t step into this trap. Politics can’t create culture, we all do. Politics is only a reflection of culture. Our music is an expression of our values. If we all want a better culture in the virtual world, we need to create it and work on it. And this means not getting dragged down by all this dumbed down and idiotic content. It’s not for you and me. And the politicians? They should leave their corrupt hands out of culture because the only thing they do is poison it more and more.... The evidence? Look at all the election outcomes in the world. Atari Teenage Riot #music #minds #atariteenageriot #freedom #libertarian
