The US must be able to enforce its law. Enemies are emboldened when they see prominent figures escape the law. Friends are disappointed and lose trust in us when they see this. Why would a nation honor another country’s guiding provisions if they won’t abide by their own laws? This isn’t a call for Comey to be thrown in prison. This is an example of how incompetent and corrupt our nations largest law enforcement body is. Why would a collective population care to honor the law when the very people entrusted with enforcing the law and maintaining its integrity are simply above it? The effects of these blatant exhibit of elitism will be felt far longer and far deeper than a few political hacks.
