Your message here: Saw this on the internet -- a revamp of the original ...and the Women Who Love Them e.p. art for a poster for the 2001 "Special Addition" re-issue compilation. (A good idea and solid plan at the time, but also something that introduced a lot of confusion into the catalog as time went on. The re-issue and compilation, I mean. It continues to cause confusion now that we've disaggregated it in the digital world, as it will be in the actual, real physical world if all goes according to plan. It will, however, make more sense to future historians, or so I like to think.) Anyway, I don't remember this poster existing, nor do I think I ever had one. This suite of Saul Bass-inspired artwork is the most well-conceived and successfully executed of all Chris Appelgren's designs for MTX records and is certainly my favorite (though there are many close seconds.) I've been meeting up with Chris regularly to work on artwork once again these days as so many years ago, and I've been thinking of this particular one a lot. I remember coming into his office to discuss what we'd do for this release and watching in awe as he quickly and rather casually assembled a mock-up that looked very much like what we ended up with as a final version. He was all, "this is just a rough idea..." but I was like: "no, I want this, exactly this, don't change a thing!" So, just throwing you back for Thursday on Wednesday because Thursday may be a bit challenging for throwing anyone back for anything. #music #artwork #design #mtxforever #minds
