The last Minds Community Open Source Initiative (MCOSI) meeting was held on October 6th and was attended by myself (medworthy), Luculent, MindsGaming, SerkanDevel, RealMindsChan, FretzCapo, RaymondSmith98 and LaboratoryMike. This meeting was independently observed by ChessChats (and I would like to express my thanks to all attendees).

This meeting was due to be held on September 24th but due to some confusion about times, the meeting was moved forward to the October 6th.

Within this meeting we discussed various issues and was presented with updates about the previous meeting topics. We examined and discussed changes to our logo and minds.com banner (in which RealMindsChan presented us with an alternative banner suggestion), examined an independent introductory web site (which is currently being worked on) and agreed upon a finalised mission statement.

The mission statement has been included to the MCOSI group and channel profiles, which contains the following:

Minds Community Open Source Initiative (MCOSI) is a collaborative project between the community members of Minds.com and the staff members of Minds Inc. The MCOSI exists to support the community by providing assistance with the various aspects and facilities of the Minds open source social media platform.

In assisting the Minds.com platform, the MCOSI provides support for the creation of up-to-date documentation, support in tracking and resolving bugs, as well as the provision of services in which community members can offer feedback and further suggestions. The MCOSI also endeavours to aid in the provision of source code and supplementary documentation for the ongoing development of the Minds platform.

Minds Community Open Source Initiative is committed to working synergistically with Minds Inc. to encourage community participation and collaboration in the aim of supporting our revolutionary social media platform, Minds.com.

FretzCapo then provided an update about the group overhaul project and whilst the discussion did become a little heated, FretzCapo did provide useful information about group analytical reports and sharing posts that have been added to a closed group.

We then examined the framework around the external infrastructure of the MCOSI, in which I described the provisions of a collaborative online, cloud based collaborative office suite, file sharing / storage infrastructure, internal communication framework and some standard project management tools (using NextCloud, OpenFire and Collabora Office frameworks).

After the review of the external MCOSI framework, SerkanDevel was asked to provide an update about his draft API document, in which he agreed to combine his ideas with both LaboratoryMike and Bodhis (unfortunately Bodhis couldn’t join us for the meeting but has been given the ability to review the meeting transcript).

Next was MindsGaming turn to provide an update about the Minds tokens exchange project, in which we examined a couple of exchange providers and had a short conversation about economics, we then had a brief discussion about the Minds.com template and interface, then finished up with a conversation about the next meeting.

The Minds Community Open Source Initiative is currently looking for developers, support operatives and other active Minds community members to provide further support to the Minds.com platform (please also note that the MCOSI is also interested in anyone with previous project management experience that can volunteer their time and head up specific Minds.com related projects).

With the help and support of engaged community members, Minds.com can truly be the free speech and open source platform that has been inspired by Bill Ottman (the chief executive officer of Minds Inc.) and other members of Minds.com.
