I really receommend a book clled The Birth of the Patriarchy and the Drug War, by Dan Russell. He shows how psychedelcs have been banned, and even knowledge of them suppressed, by patriarchal civilizations from ancient to now..........This is because the patriarchal mindset of the ruling class always want their slaves---most of us---not being able to have access to real spiritual inspiration which connects us with nature.
