It helps to know the data to understand Trump's positions on trade: the US are in a position of enormous strength. Trump stated during his first term that his goal was ZERO % tariffs, universally - on the condition that it would be mutual. Of course he understands the importance of trade, but he does not want to empower actual enemies.
