I will be installing a surveillance system in my house and I've been doing research on a dedicated monitor to install in my office at home for security.
My most important requirement is that the monitor must be 4K UHD. I could have gone with a cheaper 4K TV but I wanted just a monitor. I have no need and I didn't want a Smart TV. Size was another important consideration. Ideally a 27 inch monitor would have been perfect, and I did not want to go much larger than this. Of course, the monitor has to support HDMI inputs (minimum of 2).
I found the ideal LG 27" monitor at the local Best Buy. Then I saw this 32" monitor at the local CostCo at a much cheaper price ($390) so I purchased it instead.
The LG 32UD59-B is a gorgeous monitor; meaning the video on it is gorgeous. The physical appearance of the monitor is run of the mill, but I did not purchase it for that. The only switch is a small toggle switch hidden underneath in the middle of the bottom bezel. It lights up momentarily when the monitor is turned on.
In addition to a power input (it uses an external power brick), it has 2 HDMI inputs and a Display Port input. It comes with a HDMI cable and a Display Port cable. It also has built-in speakers which is loud and good enough for my needs. If I was using this as a computer monitor, I would definitely use external speakers.
It is easy to set up using the On-Screen Control. I have it set to power saving mode, so I never have to touch it. When I turn on the external device connected to it, the monitor automatically comes on.
I've had this monitor for over a week and I'm very happy with it. I don't have my surveillance system yet, but my grandchildren and I have been using it to play "Alto's Odyssey" - a much better alternative than the iPad.
