Within my first few breaths I did breathe I had a taste of death and my first year of life was touch and go. By the time I was five my teacher told my parents that I was mentally retarded and would need special education. At the age of nine I became aware of my gender dysphoria within a homophobic household. My teens were my dark years full of fear, anger and self loathing. Afterward I spent three decades under the weight of the yoke of shame living my life in the shadows of lies trying to be like everyone else. In my mid forties I had a nervous breakdown and realized that everything I was taught was either a lie or a half truth. Now after five decades of existence I know who I am.
