Ted, as he had been doing for 5 straight hours, was walking down an obsure, remote, rural road. He was wearing his red high school P.E. shorts, a white button up t-shirt, and had long, shoulder length hair,

Walking in a somewhat aimless fasion, Ted would not have thought less of someone who assumed he was either severly dehydrated or severly drunk. Especially when they watched him stop at every utility pole and walk past it, just to repeat the tradition at the next pole. This he had only been doing for the past 3 hours.

In fact, thinking that Ted was severly drunk was exactly what the man  walking in the opposite direction was now doing. He had just watched from a short distance as Ted had diverted from his side of the road, walked past a utility pole, then went back to the road and continued walking. Concerned for Ted's safety he said,

"Hey buddy...what are you doing?"

        "It's the only way to get home." Ted managed to stutter out.

"What...?

        "No, really. Just trust me."

But the man did not trust Ted. He walked along side him now, even joining arms with him to help steady him. He said,

"Look pal, I live just a half-mile down this road in the direction you're going. You can rest up there  and we can get you where you need to go."

        "No, that's really not neccesary.," Ted said as he politely removed his arm from the other man's. By this point they had reached the next pole, and Ted was starting to walk towards it. Ted continued,

"This is going to be the one, that's for sure. I can feel it. HA!" he laughed, almost like a druken pirate.

The man just stood there and watched as Ted then walked past the pole and disapeared. 

Ted, almost dead from exhaustion, stumbled out of his bedroom closet, fell onto his bed, and managed to utter, " I think I'm just going to throw away that story and start over..."
