Welcome, everyone, to another chapter of My gaming Journey: The Temple of Elemental Evil. In the last chapter, Karlan Sunseeker told the continuing story of the party’s journey through Hommlet, as they powered themselves up for their inevitable confrontation with the Moathouse and eventually their search for the Temple of Elemental Evil. Along the way while helping out the townsfolk, the party gained a new member the fighter Fruella, who seems to have quite the mouth on her. However. After helping out a farmer named Filken, Karlan believes that their dealings with him are not over. Now the P.O.V. shifts to the rogue Viera Whitemane. The journey through Hommlet comes to a close as The Temple of Elemental Evil continues.

But before we begin, I’d like to welcome my new subscribers to this channel and my work. Now let’s get down to business as the P.O.V> shifts to the Half-Elf Viera Whitemane. What’s going to happen today found out as My Gaming Journey: The Temple of Elemental Evil - Journal Entry #4 starts now!

Viera Whitemane, Half-Elf Rogue.

When I first left my village after the death of my mother I wandered the streets for many years growing increasingly cynical of people and life, and never staying long enough in any one city to set down roots. I’s been that way since the Elves of my now former home village exiled me after their men murdered my mother. I had never thought I could trust anyone again, I thought I was destined by cruel fate to wander Greyhawk without friends without family without anything except my own wits.

Survival on Greyhawk without friends and family can be hard!

That all changed when I met Jerrod Northstar. I’ve always believed there are no Gods, how could there be because why would they leave me to such a cruel fate. Then Jerrod Northstar came in and found me when I was getting some loot so I could slip away. Maybe it was his paladin heritage but I couldn’t bring myself to lie to him. I ended up, to my shock and dismay, spilling my entire story. They say paladins have a way with people and now I can believe it.

One Paladin's kindness et Viera on an interesting road.

I was surprised when he allowed me to become part of his little group. Even more surprised was when I met Garvin Moonstar, a Half-Elf, like me but without the white hair. He too understands persecution until he found he found his current home with his master in a place known as, “The Village in the Mists.”

Gavin Moonstar's home, the myserious Village in the Mists.

When we arrived in Mitrik I somehow instinctively knew my adventures with this group had just begun…and I proved to be right. I’ve heard stories from the streets over the years of the Temple of Elemental Evil and the war that occurred 10 years ago. I never thought I’d become involved in it, or where it would lead. But I’ve digressed enough.

Today has been an interesting day. Fruella started complaining about how we had to get up early that was probably due to the fact we had a late night. When we had dinner that evening, we heard word Filken had another problem. We did a quick run back to his place and found out someone was on his property stealing from him. So, we waited until evening and then went outside. We discovered one of the locals who claimed they were here to see Filken. However, Jerrod’s keen abilities garnered the truth out of him. He actually stole Filken’s secret money stash because his own family was starving. We allowed him to take it but warned him not to come back. We then went back to the Inn and caught some sleep.

Jerrod couldn't condone his stealing from Filken, but we couldn't condemn him either.

The next day, we went back to Filken and explained the situation. Filken was not too happy with the lost money. But recognized he could make and put away more. So thankfully it all worked out.

That’s when something rather interesting happened. It seems Karlan has been making eyes of one of Filken’s daughters Meleny, she’s the second oldest maybe a year or two behind her sister. Karlan spent his time wooing her with tales of his feats. While St. Cuthbert’s faith forbids their members from marrying people of other religions, from what Karlan tells me, Pelor isn’t quite so strict. Thankfully Filken has a large family and between him and the local widow whoa re now seeing one another and her small brood of children, I think the two will be just fine. At first Meleny was wary of going but Karlan talked with Filken and was able to convince him to let her go.

Meet Meleny, Filken's second oldest,a druid and a kind if inexperienced young woman.

However, this is where we got a surprising payoff. It was a family relic. That relic turned out to be a Holy Longsword with some magical properties to it. This was actually a welcome gift which Karlan gave to Jerrod to use.

A Magic Holy Longsword, perfect for Jerrod!

Meleny also joined up with the group. She’s actually a Druid. She’s not exactly very experienced in the ways of the world. Thankfully she’ll be at the back of the group and out of danger so she can collect experience and get stronger as well. Also I think the extra healer will be a good reason to keep her around. Fruella seems to acting like a big sister with Meleny. No surprise since they live in the same village. The responsibility will do Fruella good.

Next up we headed over to the residence of a herdsman named Lazlo. At breakfast we heard that he was having so problems with his son, that is they weren’t communicating as they should. This was where Anya stepped up tot eh plate. I’ve talked to Anya when we were on our way to Vitrik and know all about the family she lost. She decided to make it look like Anya was being courted by Laszlo for young Eddie’s sake. However, we think we’re going to come back in a couple levels, as it stands Eddie is more than just a little unfriendly at the moment. Understandable considering how his mother, Laszlo’s late wife, perished.

Next up we headed over to the Guard tower Home of one Burne, one of the two heroes who’s helping defend the village of Hommlet. And he definitely has the feel of a powerful wizard we want on our side.

Meet Burne, one of two Hommlet heroes thatit's wise to get on the good side of.

Jerrod explained we were here to offer our services tot eh town. Burne had a task for us thankfully. It seems A castle is being built to protect Hommlet’s people but lately the shipments of supplies for building the castle are being altered and the project delayed. Burne wanted us toto investigate. Thanks to my bluffing skills, I learned that one of the workers at the camp in reality was working for Rannos and Gremag, two of the local traders. The spy then scampered out tof there. We reported our findings to Burne who was absolutely furious. The wizard promised that Rannos and Gremag would be brought to account when he brings this up at the next Hommlet Council meeting. And the party got 50 gold for the effort, not too shabby!

Next we headed over to the stables near the trader’s shop having heard word of figures sneaking around there. Within the stables the party found a man named Recutio.

There's a spy in the stables near the Trader's Post.

The man claimed to be a courier but between me and Jerrod we got him to fess up that in fact he was a spy working for the Traders Rannos Gremag. Worse still, it seems the two merchants are in fact agents for the Temple of Elemental Evil. It would appear the Temple that was destroyed 10 years ago is not quite as abandoned as first thought, in fact I would say based on all the activity in the area the temple is making a comeback. And knowing something about the war that occurred ten years ago I know enough to recognize of the Temple comes back to prominence again there could be big trouble for the region…and all of Greyhawk. Looks like I got more adventure than I anticipated. With all the information we needed Recutio fled the barn…never to be seen by us again.

Next up, it was time to confront those treacherous merchants. Rannos and Gremag were not too pleased at being discovered. Seriously doubt they’ll be able to catch Recutio, he has too much of a head start on them. I managed to get them to knock off their activities…and got a nice enchanted short sword for my efforts.

Nailimng those trecherous merchants earned the party a nice enchanted shortsword

It’ll do…until Burne and his partner along with the authorities come for them. Let those treacherous pricks labor in ignorance until justice comes to claim them. Couldn’t happen to a nicer couple of jerks.

We’re heading back to the inn now for some rest. Tomorrow is a very big day. We get the last of our things together and then…it’s time to se about clearing out the Moathouse. And then it’s on find the Temple of Elemental Evil and put an end to whatever diabolical conspiracy is threatening the region from that vile place.

Next up the Moathouse and answers as to why the bandit raids have been icnreasing.

Well there you have it, folks, there is Journal Entry #4. Uh-oh The Temple of Elemental Evil is not quite so abandoned after all. Oh, there’s trouble heading for Greyhawk. What will happen next when the party heads to the Moathouse to find out what evil is coming from there? You’ll just have to wait and see. The P.O.V. switches over to the Half-Elf Sorcerer, Garvin Moonstar as the story of The Temple of Elemental Evil continues next time.
