Hello Minds Community,

Today i wanted to share 3 easy steps to reverse type 2 diabetes that worked for me. I have learned to live with this metabolic syndrome for more than 2 decades following every recommendation by the American Diabetes Association and my doctors. To control my blood sugar level, i started with 1 metformin of 500mg per day, then it progressed to 2 pills and eventually to 3 pills a day. 5 years into the treatment i was put on insulin injections because my doctor said that the metformin pills have lost their effect in my body and needed something stronger to lower my blood sugar level. I started with only 20 units per day and in less than 3 month i had to readjust my dosage to a higher unit to deal with my insulin resistance, it was a vicious cycle, take more insulin to lower blood sugar and become more resistant with each injection. It didnt make any sense to me, instead of getting better my diabetes was worse than when i was taking no insulin at all. Not happy with this situation i needed to take control of this situation by doing my own research and look for alternative solution that did not depend on drugs for the rest of my life.

After a few weeks of research i found many scientific research and clinical trials that worked for the majority of diabetic patients, the best of all is that this new treatment was 100% natural and completely free! I was very skeptical at first but at the same time i didnt want to continue the same path of constant insulin injections and was willing to try anything new to see if it works, i had nothing to loose at this point.

I made notes and planned how i was going to reverse my diabetes and put it on a realistic timeline. I wanted to do each step gradually and this way i only had to deal with one step at a time and once i was able to accomplish that step i can move on to the next step instead of doing everything at once.

To begin, i was to throw out the door everything i knew about diabetes, including everything i have previously learned from reading books, medical guidelines and my doctor's advice. After finding out the current treatment, i felt that the medical industry have been feeding us the wrong information from the beginning of their conventional treatment. Their main goal is not to treat the disease but rather treat the symptoms of the disease. Their main focus is to lower the blood sugar level (symptom) and they do nothing about the cause of the disease (metabolic syndrome). To make it worst, the doctors and all of the diabetic literature tell you that type 2 diabetes is a "chronic and progressive disease", meaning that it is permanent (no cure) and that it will get worst with time requiring more medicine for the rest of your life. Well, let me tell you guys, this is one of the biggest lies in the medical industry because i am living proof that type 2 diabetes is not a chronic and progressive disease. In 6 short months i was able to reverse my diabetes naturally and i have freed myself from the big pharmaceutical companies that are the only ones that benefit from treating diabetes rather than providing a cure.

My next step was to make a big change in my lifestyle because after all i am the only person responsible for becoming a diabetic, i ate the wrong type of food, i ate more than i needed, and i ate whenever i wanted to and not whenever my body required me to. Eating the wrong macro-nutrients has a very negative effect in our metabolism. Sugars and Carbohydrates are the worst for any diabetic, they both produce the fastest and highest sugar spike in our blood and causes a surge in the production of insulin so it can lower the blood sugar level, this works at first but eventually your beta cells in the pancreas cannot keep up with your insulin requirements and you are now insulin dependent. Contrary to any nutritionist or the famous food pyramid, our body doesnt need sugars or carbohydrates to survive, our body metabolizes all nutrients into glucose that can be used as energy for our daily activities, and it can produce plenty of it without eating any carbs at all. So after learning this fact, cut my sugar and carb consumption to a minimum and replaced it with healthy, natural "fats", yes you read right i ate fat! Fat has almost no insulin effect once we eat it because it doesnt produce sugar spikes and it also fills you up for a longer period of time which means you are not hungry all of the times. This works great because it cuts down on the frequency that you eat and it also stabilizes your blood sugar level.

After switching to a high fat low carb diet, i increased my physical activity. No i didnt spend hours and hours at the gym, i simply added 30 minutes of walking each day after work, not a big deal at all. This helps because it eventually starts to burn the accumulated fats that was created by a process called "di novo lipo genesis" during carb consumption. Many people have this condition without even knowing it but it is a very common condition called "non alcoholic fatty liver" and this is one of the main causes of insulin resistance.

Now that i had the previous 2 steps down i went ahead to do the last step. In order to let me own body to heal itself, i cannot be eating all the time because digestion requires lots of energy and involves lots of internal processes, i am not going to get into "autophagy" at this time but you need to understand that after eating your body goes into a "fasting" stage, in this stage it heals and repairs your system, so if you are eating every 8 hours your body doesnt have time to getting into the fasting mode because it is always busy dealing with metabolizing food. This last step was the hardest for me, but in all religions, fasting is part of the cleansing process and it is done once a year. Personally, it is in this last step that i saw the biggest change, my blood sugar level was normal again and i was finally not diabetic anymore.

Is this a cure for everyone? Let me say that if you can follow these easy steps, you can get rid of your diabetes just like me. Before this, my blood sugar level was very unstable and i needed to adjust my medicine according to what i was going to eat, it went as high as 400 even under medication. Now without any medication the highest i have hit was 160s and this was after eating almost half of a cake for my birthday. Needles to say, this method has worked great for me and it should work for anyone willing to make little sacrifices here and there. More than a cure i would say this is a good way to reverse type 2 diabetes by controlling your diet and changing your lifestyle but if you go back to your old ways, your type 2 diabetes will return. Insulin Resistance is like an "allergy", so in this case, most diabetics are allergic to carbohydrates, so by eliminating the carbs you also eliminate your allergy symptoms,  but if you start to consume carbs your allergy will come back.

So to conclude, i am listing the 3 steps so it is easier to follow. For more contents related to the reversal of type 2 diabetes please let me know and i will be happy to share my own experience in fighting this global epidemic disease.

Step 1: Cut Carbs & Sugars to a minimum, remember our body doesnt need them in order to survive.

Step 2: Add physical activity to your daily routine, i simply added 30 minutes of walking around the block, you can add more if you like but i find that 30 minutes is the most productive in my case.

Step 3: Skip a meal or 2, this is called "Intermittent Fasting", let your body rest and heal itself by not spending your system's resources in digesting and metabolizing food. Your body needs at least 14 hours to get into the "healing mode", this is when you will see the biggest change because it is in this stage that your body begins to burn "stored fat" so you will loose weight and keep it off!

Hope that my article can help anyone out there struggling with diabetes and all of the complications associated with this disease, if you have any questions just let me know i i will respond to the best of my knowledge based on my own experience and what i have gone through reversing my own type 2 diabetes.
