Pretty sure that everyone knows about these 2 amazing spices as one of the most powerful natural medicine to treat many chronic conditions. Many uses Turmeric alone to make tea, many people uses black pepper and even turmeric as 2 ingredients in foods or cooking foods. I bet that many even knows the health benefits, however there is something that majority does not know. Turmeric or the curcumin compound in turmeric gets poorly absorbed in the body, that is why when people drink turmeric tea, they kinda don’t notice 100% the effect of the benefits of turmeric. So, how do you solve this? By simply adding black pepper. Black pepper has also amazing health benefits but black pepper contains a compound called piperine which increases the bioavailability of consuming turmeric by 2000% according to many peered-reviewed studies. Here are the sources:

Planta Med. 1998 May;64(4):353-6. Influence of piperine on the pharmacokinetics of curcumin in animals and human volunteers. Shoba G1, Joy D, Joseph T, Majeed M, Rajendran R, Srinivas PS. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9619120

Abstract: “Concomitant administration of piperine 20 mg produced much higher concentrations from 0.25 to 1 h post drug (P < 0.01 at 0.25 and 0.5 h; P < 0.001 at 1 h), the increase in bioavailability was 2000%. The study shows that in the dosages used, piperine enhances the serum concentration, extent of absorption and bioavailability of curcumin in both rats and humans with no adverse effects.”

Foods. 2017 Oct 22;6(10). pii: E92. doi: 10.3390/foods6100092. Curcumin: A Review of Its' Effects on Human Health. Hewlings SJ1, Kalman DS2. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5664031/

Abstract: “For example, piperine is the major active component of black pepper and, when combined in a complex with curcumin, has been shown to increase bioavailability by 2000%. Curcumin combined with enhancing agents provides multiple health benefits. The purpose of this review is to provide a brief overview of the plethora of research regarding the health benefits of curcumin.”

AAPS J. 2013 Jan;15(1):195-218. doi: 10.1208/s12248-012-9432-8. Epub 2012 Nov 10. Therapeutic roles of curcumin: lessons learned from clinical trials. Gupta SC1, Patchva S, Aggarwal BB. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3535097/

“Although curcumin has shown efficacy against numerous human ailments, poor bioavailability due to poor absorption, rapid metabolism, and rapid systemic elimination have been shown to limit its therapeutic efficacy. As a result, numerous efforts have been made to improve curcumin’s bioavailability by altering these features. The use of adjuvants that can block the metabolic pathway of curcumin is the most common strategy for increasing the bioavailability of curcumin. The effect of combining piperine, a known inhibitor of hepatic and intestinal glucuronidation, was evaluated on the bioavailability of curcumin in healthy human volunteers. In humans receiving a dose of 2 g of curcumin alone, serum levels of curcumin were either undetectable or very low. Concomitant administration of 20 mg of piperine with curcumin, however, produced much higher concentrations within 30 min to 1 h after drug treatment; piperine increased the bioavailability of curcumin by 2,000%.”

So there you have it! Best way is to get a turmeric powder and you add a teaspoon in hot water, not boiling hot because after you have boiled the water, cool it down for 5 minutes then you add a teaspoon turmeric powder and black pepper then stir it and you will have a nice homemade natural medicine tropical spice tea, you can try 2 cups a day if you want, but if you are experiencing a negative side effect, then take a break for a while at least couple of days or a week and then drink one cup a day.
