FRANCE - Following the bombing last Friday night at 5:40 PM CEST or 1730 local time on Friday, the bomber is still at large. And so far: nothing.
The bombing took place in the second arrondissement of Lyon on the angle where Rue Victor Hugo meets Rue Sala in a busy shopping area, at a local bakery, pictured in the header image.
All prefectures will have reinforced security at the public sites hosting sporting or cultural events this weekend, following a statement by Minister of the Interior Christophe Castaner.
According to Police sources, there would be an elevated police presence in Lyon Saturday due to the ongoing search for the suspect and the 28th round of yellow vest protests in the area. The protests are sure to complicate the search for the bomber.
Motive is still unknown, and he has been described as "seen pushing a bike and wearing beige Bermuda shorts, an army-green scarf or head wrap and dark glasses."
So far, it is being treated as a homicide attempt by police.
French President Emmanuel Macron described it as an "attack" with no fatalities.
More to come.
