The Houston Toad is native to the United States and is listed as endangered.

Reasons for endangered status - Habitat loss, automobiles, predators, pesticides, droughts.

Conservation efforts - The Houston zoo maintains a 1200 square foot captive breeding colony of the Houston toad and released over one million eggs in 2018.
