The Celebes Crested Macaque or also known as the Crested Black Macaque, Sulawesi Crested Macaque, or the Black Ape is a species of monkey native to Sulawesi Island (Indonesia) and is listed as critically endangered. 

Reasons for critically endangered status - Hunted for food, habitat loss.

Conservation efforts - They live in protected areas, but they are still being hunting outside their protected areas.

Celebes Crested Macaque Facts - 

Science Name: Macaca nigra

Size:  44  - 60 cm 

Weight: 3.6 - 10.4 kg

Native Locations:  Sulawesi Island (Indonesia)

Lifespan:  15  - 20 (wild)

Population: 4,000 - 6,000

Conservation status: Critically Endangered (CR)
