The Skelly Pages #14

A young person recently attempted to illicit my sympathy for their situation in life. During this discussion they tried to illustrate how difficult it is to be young nowadays by playing me a video by someone who looks as though their hair is styled to look like an upturned flower pot, wears all of the cliched college garb whilst forgetting the fact that someone had to pay for his highly overpriced education/indoctrination, and it certainly wasn't them. Please excuse my cynicism, or don't, but this song is just a re-hash of old themes with a new-ish beat. I'm stretching to remember, but I think that the track was called young, dumb and broke. It's the type of unthinking drivel which most radio stations pump out to an equally unthinking and willingly accepting audience.

We've all been young, that's an inevitability so I can't help him there. We've all been broke but we (should) learn from our experiences, and as for dumb, well that gender studies degree you've gained means nothing in the real world.

Always being prepared to play the devils advocate, I asked them what would happen to a person if they were old and broke? What will happen to this person who has no safety net? No one to help them in their time of need? They just shrugged their shoulders and said "They've had their chance". Obviously a person of great compassion. I think not.

What have we created? A generation or two who want everything out but are not prepared to put anything in. Believe me, I'm not particularly altruistic, but when I saw an old fellah collapse, I dashed over to see what I could do to help whilst calling for an ambulance. Other people were busy recording the event on their phones so that they could upload it to so-called social media.

Heaven help us if even a proportion of these idiots gains any influence on society. Oh, and add sanctimonious to the following list.

We know that they, the powers that shouldn't be, are generally and by nature, either sociopaths, psychopaths or a mixture of both and I am no longer shocked by their words or actions. The msm dare to trot out the children are our future meme, but if what they are is a self-pitying, self-centred walking, talking and recording device who want everything presented to them yesterday, then we've lost our grip on sanity, and possibly society.
