Whenever your suppliers ask you for ISO 9001 Certification, it means that they need a quality product or service manufactured according to international norms and is reliable to use. Certification of ISO 9001 Standard tends to help the organizations in anticipating the risks so that you adopt some proactive measures to mitigate them.
In case you suspect or desire to find out the authenticity of the QMS Certification read this article.
ISO 9001 Standard has set out some objectives to implement and achieve. Accomplishing the standard enhances the growth and widens the scope of development. ISO 9001 Certification improves customer satisfaction and adds improvement in the management system of the company. Though the standard is not mandatory its accomplishment is very fruitful.
You might be in a dilemma that how and why will a company certify itself falsely? The suspicion is quite normal. Let us understand how.
International Organization for Standardization publishes the standards. But ISO does not certify with the standard. For this company approaches ISO certifying bodies.
These bodies regulate the legal procedure and conduct an ethical audit to certify. The procedure is followed according to statutory norms.
In case the company hasn’t implemented and fulfilled the prerequisites of the standard or hasn’t completed the process of documentation of ISO 9001 Standard, and still claims itself to be certified, is unethical.
One major thing to keep in mind is that an organization cannot certify its own Quality Management System. They can get in touch with a certifying body like SIS Certifications (operational around the globe). The certifying body audits the process of organization wherein they dig out nonconformities if any. The company has to adopt some corrective actions to resolve these and viably meet the requirements stated in the regulatory norms of the standard.
If the implementation is uninterruptedly adopted and complies with ISO 9001 Standard, the certifying body issues the certificate. Each certification carries a registration/certification number, the name of the certification body, and the name of the accreditation body. If the certificate is without any of them, it is not authentic.
At times there are some unauthorized bodies too. To check that, open the website of the accreditation board and search the name of the company or accreditation number of the company. If you find the name and details of certifying body, means the certificate they have issued is authentic.
