EDIT: All the concerns about ranking and the ranking system are more or less answered in The Ranking System On Minds

I have some hard questions to ask the staff of things I've noticed or others have pointed out. I'd like to list them and then open up a discussion. Please address these in the comments by the number listed. Thank you!

Most of this is just for the sake of me having the right information for my guides, so please this isn't an accusation or a red alert. Most of this is just anecdotal and speculative, but if I can get clarification that would be great.

1. Is there a 4 day review period for blogs before they can trend?

Everyday for the past 2 weeks or so my blogs have trended on the top 10. I noticed though that it was only the blog from 4 days previous that was trending. This is why I'm asking this as it happened every time.

2. Is there a max amount of time you can trend for?

I'm just curious about this regarding posts as I presume profiles can be indefinite.

3. Is there a max amount of posts you can have trending per user?

Given my posts trended everyday it was curious to see them always get knocked off the top when my next blog came in to trend. Considering competing blogs sometimes had little to no engagement I wondered how this was possible when someone else has stayed in the top trend for weeks with a post of similar engagement to mine. Interestingly enough this only applies to #ALL, but not when I look at individual hashtags.

4. What are the specifications for whether or not something is explicit?

Many people have had false flags on explicit content or don't know where they should or MUST draw the line on art and various form of expression.

(No where in help or the whitepaper is this clearly outlined and it's one of the bigger issues on the platform)

5. What determines the rankings for top profiles and posts?

I'm really curious on this one which also leads into my next question.

6. What is the ranking system?

I searched the whole site and gitlab and found almost no mention

This is how I became aware of this: https://www.minds.com/newsfeed/947693160568893440

https://cdn-assets.minds.com/front/dist/assets/documents/Whitepaper-v0.3.pdf - bottom of page 30 it says:

"The ideas that spark the most unique interaction will earn the highest amount of rewards, which in turn can be used to amplify future ideas though our Boost function. Every user’s voice carries the same
voting weight on Minds, making it a truly community-operated and democratized system. This data at scale is enormously useful for building a transparent ranking system for discoverability. The algorithms that determine the top content and search results are open source and driven by contribution score, which further increases the discoverability of the voices that are generating the most traction from the rest of the community.
"

Does this reflect on trending posts and profiles?

Does upvoting your own content lower your ranking?

Do downvotes affect your ranking?
