I've tried to keep from personally talking about Trump due to the fact that the entire mainstream media does it all the time. It's literally all you hear these days “Trump this Trump that RACIST RACIST RACIST”. I prefer to focus on what other other politicians are doing. However the recent Trump tweets that told AOC / Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (Or as I call her; An Occasional Cortex), and her squad to “go back to their own countries and figure out what works and then tell us about it” were an obvious tactic to destroy the DNC. I don't see it as racist (that word is overused), but I still condemn it because it undermines everything I've been trying to do for the past 3 years on social media.
With one fell swoop Trump managed to make the moderate DNC members side with the far left extremists I was hoping they would weed out. Now they've become the face of the party. Thanks Trump! It's a guaranteed Trump victory in 2020 now, because most Americans are moderates. They see someone like AOC and think “what the fuck happened to my party?” then they vote against it or not vote at all. Just like in 2016 except worse. I was hoping the DNC would realize the problem before it was too late and fix it, and perhaps reform to become the party of JFK so I could consider voting for them again. But the only way that's going to happen now is if they first crash and burn, then rebuild.
Sorta like what happened to the GOP several years back. They crashed but picked themselves up. I hope the dems can still do it, but if they think pushing further left is gonna fix anything after this, they have entirely lost. The average voter is like a radio station on the dial. If you tune past their frequency in either direction you'll lose reception. Don't push too far! You alienate people who once were your allies. At this point the only way the DNC could fix their internal problem is if they denounce the identity politics of the fringe and promote someone closer to center. It doesn't guarantee a 2020 win but it does guarantee they wont fall off the edge.
I was hoping this political divide could be mended if we called out the extremists on both sides to push both parties back to the center. I've been predicting a red vs blue political civil war for quite some time. And we've already seen fighting in the streets. Truth be told it's already here, and this train is going over a cliff at full speed. It's not stopping. All I can hope now is not too many good people die in the crossfire.
