And Now For Something Completely Different...

So a little while ago I bought a few cases of MREs online. I picked them up mainly because all the appliances in my apartment run on electricity so, if/when the power goes out I'm stuck with cold tins of Spaghetti-Os until it comes back on. A few years ago we had a windstorm that knocked out power for the better part of two weeks because the power company had barely done the minimum upkeep on the power grid. So, on the plus side, they had to fix everything because it got smashed so I guess there's that. 
Long story short, I'm working on the third book in my Get Out Alive series of zombie fiction novels and I finally decided to crack open one of the cases. What can I say? I ate tons of the things when I was in the Army and got a craving seeing as how that's all my characters have to eat right now. As a matter of fact...they're down to three MREs for four people... Anyways, I thought I might as well get some content out of it, right?

I can't remember ever eating the Chicken Bowl Burrito MRE before. It was pretty good, actually. I was a little sus about the 'Filled French Toast' dessert thing that came in it but was not as bad as I was expecting. The various species of pound cake were better but it was alright. It came with cheese spread, which was good because it's the second best spread as far as I'm concerned. there's jalapeño cheese spread which is the best though each meal packet comes with various condiments for the bread or crackers. This came with a couple tortillas so I could make like a really ghetto cheese quesadilla. The Beverage Base Powder, Orange (read: Orange Kool-Aid) was a plus too. Oh! And it had Cheez-It crackers too. They were smashed up but edible. 

All in all...probably a 6 out of 10. I wouldn't be disappointed if somebody tossed one at me but if I got first dibs at the case I'd pass it by for something else. shrugs
