Please check out this new piece that I've written with @nationaltelegraph
The basic idea behind it is that Thorium is starting to be re-explored as an alternative power source; I really see it as being one of the top alternatives over wind, solar, etc.
Nuclear has long been seen as the top, realistic alternative energy source compared with oil & gas, however it is often thought of only through the lens of Uranium based nuclear power, which, let's be realistic has a lot of drawbacks.
A lot of the national security drawbacks with Uranium based nuclear power do no exists on a similar level with Thorium based nuclear power generation.
It's a comparatively short article because I had to write it to fit in an sort of clipped, short & snapped newspaper article format, but I'm confident I do a competent job explaining out why Thorium is better than Uranium for a nuclear power source from a national security standpoint.
That being said, there are other reasons why Thorium is a terrific energy source, however, I didn't have room to get into it in these other ideas in this article. Sometimes it's better to take on one issue at a time, right?
