Even on top of the Caprock, the flat land has its own kind of beauty.
After a sporadic rain, various wildflowers can erupt if conditions are right. Often only lasting a day or so, you have to be on the lookout.
Across the road the edge of the Caprock opens up into Palo Duro Canyon. Because of the rain, everything has an extra tinge of green.
A handful of cedar posts are all that remains of an old fence that burned in a wildfire from many years ago. Instead of removing them, we embellished them. They provide a nice break along the empty road side when decorated with rust.
An old windmill is a constant source of water for wildlife and cattle.
The stock tank keeps mostly full.

We're heading back in a couple of days to see if the basket flowers bloom.
