"Big Brother is watching you." - 1984 - George Orwell
It makes no difference what kind of biometrics will be used.
It may be based on physiological characteristics such as fingerprints, hand geometry, face recognition, iris identification, retinal identification, or based on procedural features such as speech recognition, signature or typing dynamics.
Corporations like Facebook and Google, which have proven to pass on personal data to private and government organizations, are launching more and more mechanisms to monitor our lives.
Controlled surveillance.
And some will receive with open arms. Even in explicit cases such as the deployment of RFID's.
Orwell and Huxley predicted and warned us in their works.
But unfortunately the warnings were not enough. Not for some.
And what can we ordinary citizens do in the face of this paradox?
We know of the importance of biometrics in improving security mechanisms, but we know that these same mechanisms will be used against us.
So the only way out is not to use them?
Well, I believe we should act cautiously and with some precautions, that is clear, when possible.
I take as an example the facial recognition adopted by some corporations.
Is it really necessary to use it on mobile phones? Social Media? why not use the fingerprint?
Remember, it is you who voluntarily or not pass on your data.
If it really is inevitable, try to go over only the bare minimum. Ever.
